Finished...........phew!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Okay - so it's done! Thankfully. I thought this day would never come. Seriously! I have had this quilt in the works since the end of October. I did have a few little distractions - so I beg your pardon for the lack of quilting pictures in the recent months. Thank you Joe and Nan for your patience with me!

I knew when I started this quilt that it would take me a long time to quilt. Too long, but it's worth the effort as soon as I pull the finished quilt off the frames.

I used wool and hobbs batting together and I used Highlights thread by Superior Threads.

Funny thing about thread - sometimes it can be a problem. Like - you know my problem with my machine? Turns out I had a bad batch of thread - no kidding. I ruined a perfectly good rotary hook, replaced it and re-timed my machine for no reason.
Wish I could have figured that out before spending over $100 on a new part.
Good news though - I know my machine in and out and I am not intimidated by it anymore!

I don't want you to think I don't like the Highlight thread because I do, I haven't had a problem like that before and I am sure I won't have one again.

How do you like my blocks? I love them - way too fun and I don't ever want to quilt them again! Well - give me a little while to recover from this one.

Here's the back - I love it! It is it's own quilt for sure. I can't stop looking at it.

So - this is what I used to quilt this quilt. My own made up template - I traced it with a disappearing purple ink marker, I used the ruler for stitch-in-the-ditch and I used the cd cover to trace a circle for the feather circle blocks. Everything else was free-motion quilting - that is why no block will be exactly the same, but they are consistent.
It feels so good to get this quilt done!

Hey - hop on over to my sister's blog and enter to win this dress and head band - Lili just loves hers!

Your quilting job is just stunning....I am so impressed...I know how incredibly difficult it is to freehand! I am so glad to know it took you a really long time because all to often I feel like I should finish a quilt job in a day or two...not so! Well worth the effort. I am also noticing quilters using two layers of batts...going to have to try that.

Every time I visit your blog I'm am in awe of your work. My dream used to be that I could have a quilting machine in my home, but there's just not enough room and I can't afford a machine/frame. So, I look at your blog as a way of getting my quilting fix, especially the beautiful feather work you do. I have to quilt by way of sewing machine, so my work will never be as stunning as yours is.

As for the money you spent on your quilting machine's rotary hook and timing, well look at it this way--it's over and done and you know your machine will work for sure for years to come. Onward and upward!

Just stunning and well worth the wait.Did you use navy thread in the bobbin on the parts you were concerned with tension issues or was that the look you wanted for the back?

Your quilting is exquisite, what more can I say. I love the navy and white and the detailed quilting in the white spaces. So beautiful, you are truly an artist. What brand/type longarm do you use? What recommendations do you have for someone who wants to purchase a longarm...I have been quilting on my Bernina 180 and want to move up to something with more throat space? Awesome! Lisa in Texas
